Alex in the Pathway Builder

Ask for a wording or setting change and apply it when you agree. Read the Alex Assistant guide in Hello Alex documentation.

Overview

Inside a pathway, Ask Alex reads the pathway you have open and proposes changes to it. You see the exact before and after, and nothing reaches the pathway until you apply it.

How it works

  • Open a pathway, go to Ask Alex, and describe what you want different — a warmer opening, a stricter loop condition, a different transfer number, an extra extraction variable.
  • Alex reads the saved pathway and comes back with a proposal: which node and which field it would change, the current text or value, and the replacement.
  • Apply to pathway puts the change on the editor's copy of the pathway. Save keeps it, and Publish sends it live, exactly as with any edit you make by hand.
  • Alex reads the saved pathway rather than unsaved canvas edits, so save your work first if you want it taken into account.
  • A request with no direction — 'change the prompt' — comes back as one question offering concrete directions, rather than a guess that would replace your text.

Important fields

  • Proposed change: The before and after, line by line, with a count of what was added and removed.
  • Apply to pathway: Puts the proposal on this editor's copy. Nothing is live until you save and publish.
  • Current pathway: The nodes Alex is reading, so you can see what it based a suggestion on.

Use cases

  • Tightening a node's wording without rewriting it yourself
  • Setting a loop condition in the house phrasing
  • Adding extraction variables with the right type

Tips

  • Good to know: Alex proposes; you apply. It never edits the canvas on its own and never publishes.
  • Good to know: a field with a fixed set of options — transfer type, voicemail handling, the AI model — only ever gets one of those options; ask for something else and Alex says what the field accepts.
  • Select a node before asking, and 'this node' means that one.

Next step

Open a pathway, ask Alex to shorten its opening line, then apply and save.
